Expert Tips
Trying out a new service can be daunting, especially if you do not know how to prepare for it or forget aftercare steps. On this page, you will find pre-treatment advice as well as tips to achieve optimal results in between visits.
Pre-Waxing Tips
GROW YOUR HAIR OUT
make sure to let your hair grow about 1-2 weeks after shaving - I always say "the longer the better" if you are unsure of the exact length. to visualize the perfect length, think of a grain of rice - that's how long we want it to be. shorter hair will have a harder time coming out, so make sure to wait a little before booking your wax!
STOP THE USE OF ACTIVE 5-7 DAYS PRIOR
Exfoliating is great and a MUST for in-between care; however, when waxing, make sure to stop using Actives 5-7 days before. Waxing is an exfoliating service, so if we exfoliate before, when it's time to wax, we may experience sensitivities and/or lifting.
EXFOLIATE THE NIGHT BEFORE
I always recommend a nice exfoliation the night before the wax. Why is this? Well, when we exfoliate using something like a scrub, it helps slough off dead skin cells and pull out any hairs that may be stuck/ingrown. This allows for an easier wax when you come in the next day.
HYDRATE YOUR SKIN
Yes, we are removing hair. But the skin we wax over is just as important. We maintain a healthy skin barrier when we hydrate and moisturize the skin. This reduces the potential risk of irritation or lifting when we wax over that skin.
Calm Your Mind During the Wax
Waxing can be a scary service at first, but what is important to remember is that your mindset is everything! When we remember all of the benefits of waxing, these outweigh the slight discomfort we experience while we receive the service. As your provider, not only is it my job to ensure a safe space and thorough work, but also to make you feel as comfortable as possible! Below are a couple examples of how we can shift our mindset when waxing

In-Between Waxing Tips
DO NOT TOUCH!
The feeling after a wax is magical - smooth skin, no hair, and feeling like a million bucks makes us want to jump for joy! For some of us, we want to feel how smooth and soft the skin is. But remember, we just exfoliated the skin and are now susceptible to bacteria and oils entering our pores. Hands harbor both bacteria and oils, so make sure to steer clear of touching the freshly waxed area to reduce irritation post-wax!
24-HOUR RULE
It’s great to enjoy the smoothness of freshly waxed skin, but it’s important to take care of it afterward. To prevent irritation and keep your skin healthy, avoid activities like exercise, sex, wearing tight clothing, and saunas for at least 24 hours. These actions can lead to bacteria and oils entering your pores, so give your skin the care it deserves. Remember, a little patience goes a long way!
EXFOLIATE EVERY 2-3 DAYS
Exfoliation is just as crucial as the waxing process itself. It helps slough off dead skin cells, allowing hair to grow properly and reducing the risk of ingrown hairs. To achieve the best results, make sure to exfoliate the waxed area every 2-3 days. This simple step will keep your skin smooth and ingrown-free! Unsure of an exfoliantiant to use? Let's talk about it during our next visit!

Pre-Skincare Treatment Tips
STOP THE USE OF ACTIVES 5-7 DAYS PRIOR
Facials are an awesome way to keep up with your skin's needs and treat it professionally. Because this service usually includes exfoliation as a portion of the service, it is important to stop the use of actives 5-7 days prior. Actives can increase sensitivity and irritation, and may result in adverse reactions if a strong exfoliant is used in addition to actives you may have in your at-home regimen. If you are unsure which products contain active ingredients, please feel free to ask!
CONSULT WITH A DOCTOR IF ON TOPICALS
Some topical medications, such as clindamycin, Spironolactone, tretinoin, etc., may be used to treat skin concerns. If you are on any topical medications, please consult with your doctor before receiving a skincare treatment. Your doctor will be able to tell you if you can stop using it before treatment, if there are any restrictions on it (such as other actives or heart), and if it will be beneficial for your skin at the time.
SEND ME YOUR AT-HOME PRODUCTS
Make sure to take a picture of all of the items you use in your skin care regimen and either send them to me before your appointment, or bring the pics in so we can chat about them before your skincare treatment. This gives me a better understanding of your current regimen, and may help me understand your skin concerns a little better.
LET ME KNOW IMPORTANT STUFF
Please let me know about any concerns or needed accommodations! Before your appointment, I will send outa consent form and in that will contain a section where you can put any additional information for me. I try my best to make your visit as effortless as possible, so giving a heads up beforehand can help make it easier for both of us. Some important things to let me know could be: pregnancy, back issues, if you would like me to wear a mask, heart conditions, etc. All of this information ensures not only your comfort, but most importantly, your safety.
Post-Skincare Treatment Tips
FOLLOW AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
Each skincare service may have different aftercare instructions, so make sure to follow those directions carefully. If you ever forget or need a refresher, shoot me a text and I am more than happy to talk about aftercare with you.
STAY CONSISTENT
If we are specifically working towards a skin goal, please make sure to remember that consistency is key! In order to yield results from your skincare treatment, you MUST be doing your aftercare at home. 20% of the results come from me, but 80% come from YOU! If you are struggling with your current skincare regimen or feel like you need to simplify it, feel free to talk to me! My goal is to offer easy, accessible, and affordable skincare to achieve goals for all clients.
REBOOK
Facials are an awesome way to relax, reset your skin, and get some expert advice on your specific concerns. However, on top of staying consistent with products, you must stay consistent with treatments. Depending on your treatment, there may be a suggested timeframe in which we rebook from 3-8 weeks, so make sure to prebook your appointment so you do not lose track of time!
HYDRATE
Not only does your body need water to function, but your skin does too! make sure to keep your skin barrier healthy by consuming the correct amount of water daily. Unsure of how much you should drink? Take your weight in pounds and divide it by 2. The answer is how many ounces you should drink daily to stay adequately hydrated.
Post- Lash and Brow Services
Luckily, there isn't much pre-service stuff you have to do, other than have natural lashes/brows that haven't been lifted/laminated in the last 6 weeks
AVOID HEAT AND MOISTURE
Any type of heat or moisture may compromise the lash or brow shape from setting. Make sure to keep the area that was either lifted or laminated dry and cool. Additionally, the solution used for brow laminations combined with heat may exacerbate the area and potentially irritate. when thinking about post-service care, think "cool and calm" for your brows and lashes.
STAY AWAY FROM WATERPROOF MAKEUP
When you use waterproof mascara, you usually have to use an oil-based cleanser or remover to get rid of the makeup, because water-based makeup removers aren't an option. Make sure to use regular mascara if you decide to apply it.

If mascara is your non-negotiable for getting ready, make sure to be prepared for the first 24-48 hours post lash lift no eye makeup!
WAIT 6-8 WEEKS
6-8 weeks is the approximate rebooking time for this service. its convenient and low maintenance, but a strict schedule must be followed. if you prematurely book an appointment when you lashes or brows are not ready, you may be turned away or rescheduled to avoid potentially over-processing.
